Q. What Is The Principle Behind the Debt Buster Plus Plan?
A. The principal behind the plan is called the Financial Life System (FLS). The first point of FLS is that all dollars are not created equal. For instance, everyone can agree that the money needed to pay the mortgage is more important to the household than the money spent at Starbucks. Many people are unable to pay their mortgage on time or at all, because the money they needed was used for casual spending. That is the result of mixing funds. It is probably the number one reason people are forced to use credit cards. Without prioritizing money, there is a large risk of mismanagement. FLS has a four-step approach of dealing with household finance. First, devise a strategy that will eliminate all debt in the fastest way possible. Second, commit to paying yourself first and start saving money immediately. Third, devise a cash flow strategy that separates the household income as soon as it is earned into three financial buckets - savings, bill management, and flexible spending. Fourth, make it automatic. The plan is developed through proprietary software and it is then put on automatic pilot through the Financial Life Manager. There are no decisions to make or guilt to deal with.

Q. Does This Involve Budgeting?
A. Thankfully no, budgets do not work. A budget requires micro - managing money and a great deal of discipline. This system does not assume that every dollar is created equal. You do not want your mortgage payment thrown into the same mix as your lunch money. By separating the essential money from the less essential money, you manage your spending in a way that does not jeopardize the payment of bills that are really important.

Q. How Should I Deal With Bills That Change Monthly?
A. We suggest you try and set up a flat payment arrangement with the biller whenever possible to assure the highest certainty. Your plan will assume a constant payment for credit cards. In other words, your credit cards will be allocated a flat monthly payment until it is paid off. If that is not possible on certain bills, set up your Financial Life Manager with an amount that you consider the highest anticipated payment and go in each month to make the adjustment. If it is lower than that payment, you can reallocate the difference into some other bucket.

Q. What If I Already Pay Some Bills Automatically through other means?
A. You can either discontinue the direct withdrawal and have the system take it over, or continue handling it as is.
[back to
top]
Q. Can Credit Cards Continue To Be Used While On The System?
A. The short answer is that the plan is established assuming no additional debt will be incurred. In reality, that can't always be the case. If we know a credit card is going to continue to be used, we will normally suggest that a set payment amount be established each month toward that account. As long as it is greater than the minimum payment, the debt will at least be stable and dealt with down the road.

Q. Do Savings Need To Be Part Of The Plan?
